We have filled the recently advertised vacancies but we are encouraged by the number of well educated and mature applicants looking for a "part-time" contract. These allow a balance between possibly new career and other family or leisure committments. If you fall into this catagory, please still submit your CV (see below).
Sorry, but previous applicants need not apply.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
We do not have a significant turnover of staff (perhaps one or two a year) with a current average length of service across all drivers of eight years.
However, we are always on the lookout for outstanding candidates for full, part-time or casual driving. Therefore it may be worth submitting your CV by email via this website which could lead to an informal "chat" and placement on the "waiting list".
SPECIFICS:
All full-time staff ( min 35 hrs guaranteed week but averaging around 50) are on one of three "incremental" hourly wage scales. This means, for the first ten years, the hourly rate goes up by a small amount each year on top of any "annual wage increase" that is awarded across the board to everyone. The lowest rate on the "basic scale" is currently £9.25 ph. All full time staff must take 20 days paid holiday during the "school holidays" and are entiltled to a "lieu day" if required to work (at time and a half) on a statutory bank holiday. There are other allowances relating to commuting distance, mobile phone use, daily / overnight expenses etc.
New Part-Time or Casual drivers will be offered £14.00 ph for the first two hours and then at the basic scale for any further hours of the duty. This rate includes an element of "Holiday Pay" paid on an ongoing basis.
Applications, with CV, will be considered from any PCV qualified driver (since the whole fleet is automatic, an Auto PCV Licence will sufice) who is able to "pass" an Enhanced CRB check, and be accepted by our insurance Company without penalty (period licence held, age, driving record etc).
All applicants will have to demonstrate a reasonable degree of numeracy and literacy but preference will be given to those having higher educational or professional qualifications.
