Continental Excursions Spring / Early Summer 2011

We can mail you our latest leaflet with even more comment and detail BUT with mailing costs now so high, we will only do this if you become a “Subscriber” for the princely sum of £2.50 and for this you will get at least two mailings in a 12 month period even if you do not book anything. However, “Subscribers” get an automatic £1.50 discount on every seat booked in their name, so you recoup more than your £2.50 if you book just two seats.

“Subscriber Discount”; The £1.50 discount applies to every seat booked in your name, unless otherwise stated. So, if you personally book a group of friends (say 4), you will all make a saving of £1.50 per seat and be sitting close together. Your “Subscriber ” status remains while you keep booking at least two seats in any twelve period. Please enquire when booking.

WHY NOT ORGANIZE YOUR OWN EXCURSION?

If you have a small group (affinity group or just friends) and can guarantee at least 20 passengers for a particular destination you wish to visit, why not contact us NOW. If we consider it commercially viable, we will run an advertised excursion on the date of your choice (subject to availability) and take the “risk” of selling the other seats on the open market.

Calais Shopping Excursion (via Sea France Ferries)

All Seats:  £33.50  (less £1.50 subscriber discount if applicable)

Saturday 14th May 2011

DUE TO DEADLINES SET BY THE FERRY COMPANY AND LOW NUMBERS WE HAVE UNAVOIDABLY HAD TO CANCEL THIS EXCURSION. WE URGE CUSTOMERS TO BOOK MUCH EARLIER IN FUTURE TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT WHERE THIRD PARTY ARRANGEMENTS ARE NECESSARY.

Plus a date in September to be advised.

We are continuing our regular visits to the giant Cite Europe Complex. Not only is there the Giant Carrefour Hypermarket and the Tesco Wine Store but also a multiplicity of stores, shops and eating places appealing to all generations. The Pound has started to rise (slowly) against Euro and with heavy discounting still prevalent across the retail sector in Europe, there are some real bargains to be had.  Arguably, food quality and variety provides another incentive to make the occasional foray across the Channel.

(visit www.citeeurope.com for more information on all shops and useful links).

Because there are no TABAC at Cite Europe, we offer an OPTIONAL short trip up to Adinkerke, over the Belgian Border, for a choice of Warehouse Outlets for only a £5.00 supplement (payable at time of booking), before returning to Cite Europe for the rest of your shopping. PLUS Calais Town Centre Dropping Point for those who wish to shop and eat in Calais itself.

 Approximate Departure Times:

Chichester: 07:00            Midhurst: 07:30      Haslemere: 07:55

Other Pick-up Points (fare supplement of £3.00 per person) please enquire when booking.

The Normandy Invasion Beaches; An Overview

The Normandy Invasion Beaches; An Overview

(Via Brittany Ferries Fastcraft)

 Sunday 19th June 2011

All Seats:  £31.50  (less £1.50 subscriber discount if applicable).

Our well proven Itinerary uses the Early Fastcraft from Portsmouth to Ouistreham (Caen) and returns on the evening Fastcraft from Cherbourg. The very swift crossings (3hrs) means that we have a full eight hours in Normandy to explore some of the Invasion Beaches.

Of course it is impossible to visit every site, but this is intended as an overview with time at selected points to look at various museums and monuments. From Ouistreham, appropriately, we will go straight to Pegasus Bridge (where it all started) and the Airbourne Museum, and then along the coast past the British “Sword”, “Juno” and “Gold” beaches. Late Lunch will be taken at Arromanche with time to view the vestiges of Mulberry 1 and the Museum before moving onto “Omaha” and an opportunity to pay our respects at the impressive and moving American Cemetery before driving up to Cherbourg. Our Itinerary will be flexible and depend on the weather. Entrances to any Museum are not included in the fare but at every one there are ample sights to see (and refreshment) without actually visiting any Museum.

Guide Departure / (Return) Times: Because of the early sailing time (07:00), we have to make an early start. The Pick-up Points and Times will be structured to keep travelling to a minimum and will very much depend on the numbers booking from individual points. However, as a guide:-

Haslemere: 04:45 (23:45)  Midhurst: 05:05 (23:25)    Chichester: 05:30 (23:00). Other Pick-up Points may be available at a supplement, please enquire when booking.

NB: Our “Option” with Brittany Ferries expires in April; PLEASE book early so that we can have confidence in it’s viability!
